Projection welding

Projection welding is a very powerful option of resistance welding. It offers advantages over automation. Several spots can be welded in one work step. This option is especially suitable in the engineering branch.

In one of the components to connect some raisings (welding humps) -or sometimes only one- are inserted. Through the geometry of the hump the welding area is well-defined. Only the humps are bearing on the component to weld. In contrary to the spot welding technique different electrodes are used: Plane copper electrodes. During the welding process the hump melts on and forms a connection to the pressed on component.

Of course, you can use natural humps for this kind of welding process, too. These natural humps are used to e.g. weld lattices. This technique is called cross-wire welding. The electricity stream flows through the contact points of the crossed wires which heat on these points. A welded connection is produced. Find an example of use under the topic Industrial Solutions.

High electricity which is necessary for projection welding is a speciality of Harms+Wende. Several hundred kA electric current together with our inverter technique are a technical pioneer work of Harms+Wende processing. This counts for the monitoring of projection welding processes throughout especially processed control systems as well.
